Netherlands becomes a new favorite for overseas education

According to a recent study conducted, Netherlands has been in huge demand when it comes to pursuing overseas education. Currently 112 thousand foreign students are enrolled in Dutch universities; a new high for country’s international education.

English as its local language is considered to be one of the factors which attract internationals students to pursue their higher education in Netherlands.

According to Nuffic - the Dutch organization for the internationalization of education, the Netherlands is popular "because of its large number English-language offerings, affordability of education here and the quality".

Germany with its 22000 students enrolled in Netherlands is at top when it comes to a country’s foreign students in Netherlands. Germany is followed by China with 4300 students and Italy with 3300 students pursuing their education in Netherlands.

Art courses are the most popular among students. 28.1 per cent students pursuing education in Amsterdam College of Arts are from abroad. At university level, a specialty or linguistic direction are popular courses among foreign students.

Mobility of international students to Netherlands is considered as a positive sign for the country.

As per Jeroen Wienen, a board member of student organization ISO, "International students provide a different perspective in the classroom. Dutch students can learn a lot from that”.
