Ahmed Hussen, Canada’s Immigration Minister has recently announced that the federal government of Canada will be soon introducing a new ‘Targeted Employment Strategy for the Newcomers’ in the maple country, as a part of the Budget 2017. The strategy is aimed to aid the internationally skilled newcomers in Canada to find the employment opportunities which match to their skills and knowledge.

The Newcomers to Canada time and again have to face several challenges in getting their credentials assessed and recognized so that they can find suitable employment opportunity. It is expected that the new ‘Targeted Employment Strategy for Newcomers’ will be a milestone in reducing the obstructions in getting employment and also in supporting the new immigrants as they put their abilities to work in the country.

The three provisions by which the newcomers will benefit:

  • Enhanced pre-arrival provisions to aid the newcomers start the foreign credential recognition process before arriving in Canada.

  • A program will be initiated to provide loan facilities to the Newcomers. This loan facility will help them with the expenditure of getting their foreign credentials recognition done, which includes licensing exams, training, travel and up gradation of their skills.

  • Also, a new pilot venture to test advanced methodologies to aid the newcomers to get work experience in Canada.

The Immigration Minister, said, “Attracting the best and brightest from around the world benefits all Canadians and is one of the Government of Canada’s top priorities. I am proud that our government is supporting newcomers and helping them overcome the barriers that limit their employment opportunities in Canada.”
