OINP launched for tradespersons under Express Entry in Ontario

Ontario which is mostly filled with people all round the year has got itself a new program Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program under the name of Express Entry Skilled Trade Stream. There would be 600 Comprehensive Ranking Points allocated to applicants who successfully meet the eligibility criteria with an ITA at a consecutive draw from the Express Entry pool for the Federal purpose.

This new stream under Express Entry which is called the OINP came into existence on 31st May 2017.The application needs to be submitted online in the IRCC Express Entry portal with an NOI -Notification of Interest being received from Ontario to be able to work in Ontario and all its other associated Provinces of Canada.

The Eligibility Criteria for the OINP is:

• A minimum of 12 months experience in working in any sector like IT, Energy Life Sciences, etc. with the NOI issued within two yrs. from Ontario. The Experience should be in any skilled trade.

• A valid trade certification from Ontario College of Trades, in case the candidate is working or has worked in the past in Ontario in any trade.

• He/she should be a resident of Ontario.

• The candidate should be aware of English or French Language after taking a standardized language test approved by Government of Ontario.

• The candidate should be financially stable.

• A letter of intent should be conferred to settle in Ontario.
