It has been revealed from the British Columbia immigration office that certain BC PNP draws has been conducted. This draws coincides with the latest trends of Canadian province which includes various steps to prioritize potential immigrants in the Information technology (IT) sector.

BC PNP is one of the Canada's Provincial Nominee programs. With the help of these programs, provinces can nominate new immigrants who can settle into the local labour market.

Till Now six tech-only draws have been conducted since May 2017. The dates in which the draws have been carried out were on May 17 & 31, June 14 & 21 and July 5 & 12. Moreover, the draws are remodelled by BC PNP in which it declares the draw results.

For example: As a subset of the overall draw that took place on June 7, June 14 and 21 tech only draws are grouped together.

According to media reports, it claims that BC's tech sector, which is already growing rapidly, has initiated to grow even faster due to the increase of international talent leaving behind the tech hubs in the United States, like the Silicon Valley.

With the rising of the president Trump's rule, who has initiated “America – First” policies on immigration, the economy has led to an awkward position in the tech sector.

Particularly the Canada and the British Columbia are the countries that stand to gain from the divergence in policies between the Canada and the US. Apart from the reputation for tech talent and innovation, BC's proximity and mild climate are the major factors that attract the workers as well as the companies alike.

BC PNP Latest Figures

For the most recent draws, BC has not yet particularized the number of invitations to Apply (ITA) that are issued to candidates who have been registered in BC's unique “Skills Immigration Registration System - (SIRS)”. CIC news contacted BC PNP to know about the exact facts and figures and also the tech occupations that might be included, but no such details have been given at this time.
