As per a newly published survey in Europe, nearly 73% of the surveyed people welcome immigration, whereas nearly 80% of inhabitants welcome immigrants in Germany. As a part of the survey, certain questions were asked to nearly 200,000 people who fall under the age group of 18-34 years

Positive statistics considering Germany has been criticized both for Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open door immigration policy and for the treatment and attacks upon migrants living in Germany. The figures show that despite mixed press regarding immigration the newest adult generation in the country is positive about the benefits of immigration.

The strong positivity from German millennials serves to dispel some of the opinions that more negative attitudes are found in Germany. 80% of young German adults believe that immigration is a positive thing adding cultural diversity and are pleased to be a part of a multi-cultural society.

The survey was part of a study of more than one million 18-34-year-olds conducted by German broadcasters ZDF, SWR, and Bayerischer Rundfunk. The study also asked questions about governments, religious institutions, and expectations for the future. Some students commented on the new data, expressing their belief that most new immigrants to Germany worked hard to establish themselves in the country and integrate with their new home.

Less than 25% of those asked thought that if there were difficult economic times jobs should be restricted to German nationals alone.

Another recent poll, this time from the market research institute Allensbach, showed a decline in support for anti-immigration Alternative fur Deutschland party in Germany.

More than a million asylum seekers have arrived in Germany since 2015. Despite the open door policy, the government is worried the country economically cannot cope and some asylum seekers have been offered money to help them return home.
